It’s week two of trailer living and living in a full on construction site. Tons of people coming and going, site inspections, bigger crew this week, truss company coming out to review everything, etc. Monday kicked off with tree clean up and building forms for foundation footings to get concrete poured this week after inspection from the county.
I’m writing this from an airplane somewhere between Oakland and Dallas. I am heading to a wedding for a sweet girl I’ve known her whole life. It’s exciting and hard all at the same time as I had to head to TX earlier this year for the bride’s mom’s funeral. Shana (the bride’s mom) was one of my best friends who was like family. She was in our wedding and shockingly passed away from suicide earlier this year. It was so tragic and unexpected (which I guess is pretty typical with suicides) but it was the first that I’ve had so close to me. Needless to say this wedding will be full of joy and celebration all tied together with a layer of sadness and grief. BUT it will be beautiful and I’m so glad I can be there to not only help coordinate with her Aunt Dawn but celebrate with her in this new journey of life.

Back to the house. Well Josh and his crew are working super hard on the foundation footings and finishing tearing out walls, pulling off the ceiling, making room for the stairs and it sounds like getting ready to take out my laundry and bathroom next week. The goal is to pour the foundation footing this week so they can do framing next week to be ready for the trusses.
Josh sent me a picture as I was traveling of the kitchen ceiling coming down – I really thought we were saving that light… oh well! Too late now…

Last night I was able to go to Jaz’s soccer game before I left. They’ve had a rough season but I think it’s a growing year and as long as they are having fun that’s what matters.
I tried to make sure everything was set to go before I took off too – food for the bunnies, the dog, the humans, laundry all caught up, itinerary on the fridge, etc. all the things to make sure they can have a successful week without me. 🙂 Overkill – maybe so? But I know it really does help Jaz to know what’s going on and all the details. Thankful for Josh’s parents who are helping him this week with Jaz and physical work at the farm.
It was so sweet, we had our neighbor also come by yesterday to see what we were doing as she heard some jack hammering over the weekend and she brought us a frozen lasagna. She remembers living in chaos while they did their farmhouse remodel and knows all too well the craziness and thought it would be helpful to bring us a meal. There are still good people in the world!
Coco, Jaz’s cat, is loving living outside now and has been coming around more. Even short stints in the trailer to get food and water and take a nap. Jaz is always happy to see her and spend time cuddling with her when he can. We’re glad she hasn’t taken off or gotten hurt somehow. She’s quickly figured out farm life outside.

Here’s some pictures to enjoy of the process this week! It’s going by so fast already… A little out of order but you get the idea! 🙂

Oh you have been super busy! I am so happy for all of you. The house will be beautiful & you will really enjoy it and the whole remodeling process. I did not know about Shanna’s passing. I am so sorry but thankful you were able to be there for her daughter on her wedding. Big hugs & love to you. Take care of yourself too!
