As you remember from the first post, I had gotten a kitten not long after moving in. Raven really is the first pet (besides fish growing up) that I had raised and have had for a significant amount of time. Raven has become a little high maintenance and didn’t really like it when we got another kitten, Coco. She wasn’t sure why she wasn’t ruling the house by herself.

We got Coco on our 2nd anniversary actually as a pet for Jaz. He really wanted a kitten and we were able to get Coco from some family friends who also live in the country. For the most part she’s been a good cat, they just changed the rules about having them declawed so needless to say, some of the furniture has been ruined from her claws (I hate that part). She’s an eater too – wow that cat! She is going to be our mouser for sure.
Meanwhile, Jaz and I really couldn’t stop looking at dogs all the time. Always looking at what puppies were around and looking at a variety of breeds, etc. (We still love looking at puppies) But Josh had found these Collie puppies on FB and we went and looked at this puppy who was already 12 weeks old. After lots of conversation, we decided to surprise Jaz and we welcomed Joey to the family! Joey’s the best dog, truly, we got spoiled with him being a bit older and was crate trained and has slept through the night in his kennel every night since we’ve gotten him. It’s SO awesome! He’s just a little spoiled, or a LOT if you ask Josh! 😊 We get asked all the time what kind of a dog he is cause he’s a pure bred Smooth Coat Collie – he’s so handsome!

Well since I moved in, i’ve always called the property a farm but have to have a disclaimer that there really wasn’t any animals. But I really do want to have farm animals and am always talking with Josh about different farm animals. My goal would be to have chickens, pigs, goats, etc. and somehow we talked about Bunnies!
For Mother’s day (2023), I was gifted this super cute polka dot box with a pink bow on it. I had no idea what was in it. I opened the box to find not just one but two super adorable Bunnies in this box! What!! I couldn’t believe it and my face was priceless.

Apparently Josh had these bunnies he’d been taking care of for the last several days leading up to me getting them. From what we knew (thanks Wilco) we had two girls and so we named them Bella & Hazel.

I had lots to learn about bunnies, what they can eat, how to care for them, etc. They still don’t love being held, which is a bummer but we keep trying. We decided that they were going to be outside bunnies and we started building them a bunny hutch from scratch. Thanks Josh for being so handy and smart to help build them a cute home! We used Joey’s old dog crate to keep the bunnies in as their main cage and then built the hutch for the cage to fit in. Works great!

After about 2 months I noticed that Hazel was starting to “get after it” if you know what I mean with Bella… oh heck no! I thought we had two girls… is this normal… are they really girls… is Hazel a boy. I called Josh! I told him what was going on and we only had a few options… either you take them back to Wilco or take them to the vet to get checked out? I had even done research online to see how to tell if they are boys or girls. I really though Hazel was now a boy so we changed his name to Hazelnuts. And then there was the concern about Bella getting pregnant. Fun facts I learned about Bunnies…
- They have two uterus’s which means they can be pregnant and get pregnant at the same time!
- They can have up to 100 little bunnies in a year – WHAT!!
Ummm, this was not happening… So I called the vet to see if we could get them in to just get checked to see who’s a boy and who’s a girl at this point. We get to the vet for the fastest (20 mins) appointment i’ve ever had only to find out THEY ARE BOTH BOYS!!!! Are you kidding me? No more worrying about TONS of little bunnies, no more Bella & Hazel or even Bella & Hazelnuts – now I really had to change their names… I was a little flabbergasted and at a loss for what to do now. After lots of thinking about options, we changed their names to Chewie & Han Solo. Haha We are Star Wars fans and it just seemed fitting, especially since Bella is fat and eats ALL THE TIME so Chewie was totally appropriate.

We’ve officially kicked off the “farm” with Bunnies!! 😊 Fingers crossed eventually more fun farm animals. What I always joke around with Josh is having “Leslie’s Littles” and having all of the small versions of farm animals! Haha Someday….

Love this♥️
Silly animals! I just can’t wait for ALL the animals! Was looking at pictures of the miniature cows yesterday with Jaz! Love them all!
