A few projects have been accomplished in the last 9 years of living at the farm. Here’s a few highlights…
When I moved into the farm, there was a few things I wanted of fix or update or that flat needed it. One of them was the bathroom counters. The main bathroom was yellow and black plastic tiles with yellow Formica countertops. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to spend a bunch of money re-doing the countertops so I started going research for easy cost effective options so I decided to spray paint them. After several coats of polyurethane it worked! One project done!

I was away on a trip and while I was gone my parents spoiled me and got rid of the plastic tiling that was in the shower as they started coming off the wall and was causing wall damage and decided to fix it all with a Bath Fitter. It was a perfect solution to not only get rid of the tile but give a fresh clean white shower. It’s worked out so well!

A few years into living at the farm the back deck started falling apart and was rotten. My Dad and Uncle to the rescue! (This was before Josh and I had gotten together) They tackled this project and I helped paint every board before laying down the new deck!

In 2017 I decided to change some lighting and add some paint! I updated to some farmhouse lighting and we painted the brick fireplace white! It had tons of discoloring due to the house being smoked in for several years. No more gold fireplace either – spray paint can do wonders!

One weekend, after Josh and I had gotten married, we decided to take out the paneling lighting that was in the kitchen. We started taking out the paneling – had to repaint and installed a new light. Having the ceiling higher was so much better and new LED lighting, game changer!
Now, the last 6-9 months we’ve spent hours and hours talking, brainstorming, researching, touring ideas for what’s next at the farm. The things we know we would like changed about the farm…
- We would like more room – it’s about 1200 sq ft currently and only a 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom home. We would love to have an extra bedroom and an official master bedroom suite.
- Functional floor plan – a more open concept, an actual laundry room, etc.
- Space for an office – more on this in a bit!
- My biggest hearts desire is to have a home where we can entertain, Jaz can have friends over where they can have their own space, there’s a little more privacy for both Josh and I and Jaz, but also a home where everyone can thrive.
So what did we decide to do? You’ll have to wait for the next post to see!
