In May 2022 we were camping with some friends who own a few local businesses including a construction company. We got into a ton of conversations about being self employed, construction trade and the needs in the Yamhill County area. Josh wasn’t entirely loving his career choice at the time working at McMinnville Water & Light. He had thrown around the idea of construction or trades. We left this camping trip with our brains and hearts really stirring with the idea of starting our own business.
After many conversations, tons of research, lots of prayer and meals with fellow business owners in the area seeking advice we decided we would just dive in. So Josh signed up to take the course to become a General Contractor and August 1st we launched Elevated Handyman & Construction LLC. WHAT – it happened so fast, trust me! Oh and he quit his job and started full time August 1… with again LOTS of prayer that it was going to work! Our goal is to provide an Elevated experience to home owners that need handyman type projects completed to small construction jobs.

We are now a little over 1 year in and onboarding our 3rd employee in the next few weeks…. Craziness!! God truly has blessed this endeavor and with the strong community connections it has blown up and exceeded our expectations and goals. Elevated has taught us so much already from the big need there really is in our local community to how to hire employees to bookkeeping and everything in between.

How does this relate to our house project? Well as you already read we decided to act as the General Contractor on our own home project, but before we start in on the construction of the home Josh thought it would be a great idea to build me an exterior “office” or “she shed”. Since I work from home majority of the time and the new house plans didn’t allow for that space and I would need somewhere to work out of during construction we thought it would be a good idea to build this office. It would also be the headquarters for Elevated eventually too!
The office currently has all of the framing done, working on electrical, windows and door is in, next up insulation, Sheetrock, flooring and lighting (which i’m taking some from the house and putting in the office). We’ll be moving in the office in no-time… I mean amongst work, Jaz’s birthday, school starting soon, trying to schedule and solidify sub-contractors for the house project, packing up the house and just living life. Who needs sleep anyways!
Here’s some pictures of the office project so far! (Oh and of course we had to move the chicken coop out of the way before starting this project so it’s sitting in the field – Yes Josh, it will be a chicken coop again someday lol)
